Offloading

Korb walks down to Gallow's Firearms in the afternoon. He stands in the doorway blinking and looking slowly around him as his eyes adjust to the light.

Thomas Gallow sits behind the counter seeming to be lost in the clicking of his type writer. He has the leathery skin of an old soldier, and a well worn eye patch. Behind him is a display case with an example of almost every firearm design in Western Immoren.

A guard, who sits off to the side of the room, whistles when he sees you, finally getting the attention of Thomas.

"Well you sure are a big one. I'm afraid I don't stock any artillery pieces," he stops to wink with his good eye, "That's just some humor now. How can I help ya?"

Korb smiles at the remark and scratches his craggy chin in thought.

"I wouldn't know what to do with them even if they were in stock. Do you buy used at all?"

"Only if they're in good condition. Do you a piece with you? I'll have a look."

Korb places two pistols on the counter. He gets out a tiny pair of spectacles and turns one of the guns over in his hand, squinting and holding it at arms length.

" They're well enough polished but you would know their condition better than I ever could."

*Thomas looks skeptical when the trollkin puts on spectacles. He looks at each pistol in turn, opening it up and using a variety of delicate tools.*

"They are well used but in working order. I can offer you 10 gold each."

"That's very reasonable, thank you."

He stands a moment in thought.

"Do you know most folk who are handy with guns around here?"

"I'm the biggest store in the city who will deal with the common folk. There's a few bigger, but they only deal to known contracts. I'd say I know our local dead eyes though."

He nods slowly.

"Are you very familiar with the local Amethyst Rose? I am travel guard for a spell shot who has taken an interest."

"I hope you're friend is a heartless killer with no care in the world but gold. Those fellars have been mad dog murderers ever since they arrived in this city."

Korb mulls it over.

"No, I don't think he is. Are there many of them?"

"Less than ten certainly. They're aren't cheap to buy either. You need some serious coin to hire them."

Korb nods.

"Thank you for your help."

"No problem. I look forward to further business. You look like the type that's going to 'find' more of these. Keep bringing them in in decent condition and I'll have more coin for you."

*Thomas counts out 10 gold in mostly Llaelese coin and gives it to Korb. Her puts the pistols under the counter.*

"Thank you, I certainly will. Take care."

Korb lumbers out of the shop.
His next stop is to Tomas' Arms and Armour.

Thomas Grizz is a mean looking trollkin. He wears a breastplate, and keeps a warhammer in his back. Judging by the dents and stains on his armor previous attempts to rob the store have been unsuccessful.

Korb looks him over with a salutatory nod. He addresses him in Trul.

"Good afternoon, friend. Do you exchange arms, or only sell?"

Thomas Grizz is a rough looking trollkin. He wears a steel breastplate, and judging by the dents and what could be blood stains in the wood floor, attempts to rob him have gone poorly. The almost clockwork dinging and smell of molten metal seeping from the back room tell you that there is a forge in the back.

Korb looks the Trollkin over with a salutatory nod. He addresses him in Trul.

"Good afternoon, friend. Do you exchange arms, or only sell?"

Thomas looks over Korb, obviously sizing him up. He responds in Trul.

"I can exchange. I'll buy things in good condition, or if they're in bad I can give you their weight's worth for scrap. Don't go telling any humans that though."

Korb shakes his head.

"I will not."

He sets his warhammer on the counter.

"I'm looking for a maul. Will this cover part?"

*He looks at the warhammer.*

"That's in good shape but there is a lot more steel in a maul than in that letter opener. My price on maul's is normally twenty gold, but I'll shave off three if you want to exchange that."

*He scratches at a chunk on his chin.*

"If I remember correctly I picked up an older mechanika maul a few years back. Its expensive, but if you're interested I can pull it out of storage."

Korb stares a very long time at the war hammer.

"You open very large letters if this is a letter opener. I will ask a human."

"If you like. Better try one in the slums. They don't like our kind going into their neighborhoods too much."
